State Director for the State of Minnesota
Ms. Melissa Grant received her J.D. magna cum laude from Northern Illinois University in 1987. She has been a practicing attorney since 1987, focusing her practice on commercial litigation. She began her career with Baker & McKenzie in their Chicago office and later their San Francisco office. In 1990 she returned home Minnesota. Ms. Grant is licensed to practice in Illinois, California and Minnesota and before federal courts in all three jurisdictions.
Ms. Grant's law firm consists of about 80 lawyers of which about half practice litigation and half of whom dedicate themselves to corporate matters. Ms. Grant is a "qualified neutral" under the Minnesota rules, enabling her to be assigned mediation cases (Court Annexed) directly from the county court system. Ms. Grant has a very strong interest in ADR, particularly mediation, which originally developed primarily from seeing the deleterious effects of litigation on clients and their businesses.
